These towels are just too thin compared to photos that show a hefty towel in advertising

Excellent. Towels not too thick, certainly not thin. Minus 1 star for a few threads I snipped off before washing. All came out of the laundry beautiful and soft.

Sometimes terry gets packed down in transit, so we recommend washing and drying before using, which should get the terry back to its soft and fluffy state.
